The Freddy Web Search tool lets assistants pull fresh information from approved search providers. Use it to complement model knowledge with real-time facts.
- Execute search queries through the configured provider (e.g., Bing, Brave, in-house crawlers).
- Return summarized snippets, source URLs, and timestamps for compliance.
- Respect organization-level safelists, rate limits, and auditing.
- Visit Freddy Hub → Tools → Web Search and enable the integration for your workspace.
- Provide API credentials or select the managed Freddy search backend.
- Define allowed domains, query filters, and maximum results per call.
- Assign the tool to assistants or threads that require up-to-date context.
- Keep prompts specific to minimize noise (include keywords, time ranges, locales).
- Combine with function calling to post-process results before responding to users.
- Log retrieved URLs for auditing and follow your organization’s data retention policy.
